EdgeShift AI / WordPress → Astro

Ship a faster, safer WordPress site—without WordPress in production.

EdgeShift converts your WordPress site to Astro on Cloudflare Pages and runs ongoing changes through a governed lane: chat → PR → preview → approve → deploy.

EdgeShift is a productized WP → Astro conversion plus an ongoing change lane.

You get a modern repo, Cloudflare Pages deploys, PR previews, and a simple unit of work (Request Credits) for ongoing updates.

WordPress works—until it doesn’t

  • Plugins pile up. Performance and reliability degrade.
  • Security becomes a permanent tax.
  • “Small changes” turn into risky production edits.
  • Launching landing pages becomes a bottleneck.

Static frontend + governed changes

EdgeShift moves your public site to Astro on Cloudflare Pages and keeps WordPress private for editing. Every update goes through a controlled flow with previews and approvals.

  • Faster pages (performance budgets + edge delivery)
  • Reduced public WP exposure
  • Repeatable workflow for changes with an audit trail

How it works (chat → PR → preview → approve → deploy)

  1. Inventory + Migration Score — Review blocks, templates, redirects, SEO complexity, and fit flags.
  2. First Preview PR — Early PR + preview URL for key templates (typically within 2 business days).
  3. Build templates + migrate content/media — Convert pages, posts, and scoped CPTs into Astro.
  4. QA gates (required checks) — Links, redirects, sitemap/robots, metadata parity, sanitization, performance budgets.
  5. Cutover with rollback — No-downtime cutover plan with documented rollback path.
  6. Ongoing Change Lane — You request → we PR + preview → you approve → we deploy.

Best fit

Not a fit (or requires redesign / mini-sprint)

  • WooCommerce/checkout, memberships, gated apps
  • Heavy Elementor/Divi dependence (unless scoped as redesign)
  • Plugin-runtime features that require WP server-side execution

FAQ

Do we have to stop using WordPress?

No. WordPress stays as a private content studio for editors—just not the public site.

What’s the “Source of Truth”?

Git is the source of truth. The production site is exactly what’s in main.

Do you auto-merge or deploy changes?

No. Nothing auto-merges. Every change ships as a PR + preview URL and requires approval.

Can we deploy somewhere other than Cloudflare Pages?

Yes. The Astro repo is portable. Cloudflare Pages is the default because PR previews are excellent.

What does a Request Credit cover?

One bounded change shipped as one PR + one preview URL, with up to 2 review rounds.

What about SEO?

Redirects, sitemaps, canonicals, and metadata parity are part of launch QA.
